Firestone, Colo. (Apr. 3, 2012) - Flatiron's State Route 92/Interstate 880 Interchange Reconstruction Project in Hayward, Calif., has won the 2012 John L. Martin Partnered Project of The Year Award, Diamond Level, from the International Partnering Institute. The Diamond Level award is the top award given by the non-profit organization, and will be presented on May 17 in San Francisco.

The IPI Partnered Project of the Year Award recognizes teams who implement partnering best-practices, build high-trust working relationships, achieve excellent results and deliver outstanding projects. The SR 92/I-880 Interchange Reconstruction project was constructed by a joint venture team from Flatiron and Granite Construction. The reconstructed interchange, one of the Bay Area's busiest and used by over 235,000 vehicles a day, provides additional traffic capacity, relieves congestion and helps improve traffic safety and operations. Flatiron and Granite partnered closely with owner California Department of Transportation to develop innovative solutions to mitigate delays and finish this complex job a month ahead of schedule.

The SR 92/I-880 Interchange Reconstruction project also recently won a Marvin M. Black Excellence in Partnering Special Recognition Award from the Associated General Contractors of America.
