Flatiron Awarded Best Transportation Project of 2017

Engineering News-Record Mountain State named Flatiron’s Gate Apron Rehabilitation and Drainage Improvements Projects at the Denver International Airport as the Best Transportation Project of 2017 for projects located in Colorado, Wyoming and North and South Dakota.

The project, valued at $35 million, consisted of apron replacement/repair, drainage improvements of gate pavement, pedestrian jet bridge work, and utility rehabilitation work at nine gates on two separate concourses as well as pavement placement for two additional gates in preparation for future gate expansion at the airport. The main purpose of the project was to replace deteriorating pavement, mitigate drainage and ponding issues at the concourse and apron areas which were contributing to water infiltration into the basement area.

Now in its 17th year of project awards, ENR Mountain States panel of nine independent judges selected winners in categories ranging from green building to transportation. Projects were judged on safety, innovation, contribution to the industry/community, aesthetic and functional quality of design and construction craftsmanship.
