craig_oppermann_cio_headshotFlatiron’s Chief Information Officer offered his thoughts on the important role information technology plays in the construction industry in an interview published in the December edition of CIOReview.

The Fremont, California-based print and digital publication focuses on information technology trends and solutions for businesses and provides keen insight to decision makers in industries as varied as startups to established corporations.

Craig Oppermann, who began his career with Flatiron in 2013 as senior director of information technology, addressed a number of information technology concerns in the construction industry in a Q&A with the magazine. He discussed how cloud computing is transforming the industry, as well as the benefits of migrating to a cloud-based solution, particularly cost savings and labor efficiencies.

“Not only did we reduce hard costs by 35 percent, we also decreased the amount of soft costs spent,” Oppermann said in the interview. Oppermann also offered advice to fellow CIOs, which he culled from his experience managing the Flatiron IT team and various technology projects at the company.

Earlier this year, Oppermann became chief information officer. He utilizes his IT leadership and expertise on several critical projects that enhance Flatiron’s productivity and position as a leader in the construction industry in North America.
