This Presidents Day, Get to Know Jorge and His Heartwarming Story

Jorge Arias was not struggling in his mountainous hometown of Manizales, Colombia. He owned a small but thriving engineering firm. His wife had a successful dental practice.

But the Flatiron field engineer wanted a better life, not just for himself, but for his growing family. So a decade ago he left Colombia for the United States, and settled in the Dallas area.

It took some work on Jorge’s part to adjust to life in America, and the onetime business owner had to start over as a surveyor. But his hard work at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport got him noticed by Flatiron, and he was offered a position.

He and his family have become American citizens. After accomplishing that feat, he inspired some of his co-workers at the DFW Taxiway Mike project to learn more about how they could pursue their own citizenship dreams.

In this video for Presidents Day, the engineer with the big smile discusses the opportunities Flatiron has given him, and how his project team feels like family.
