BC Hydro Names Partnership Team as Preferred Proponent for Site C Generating Station and Spillways Civil Works Contract

Broomfield, Colorado (December 21, 2017) – BC Hydro has selected Flatiron in partnership with Aecon, Dragados, EBC (AFDE Partnership) as the preferred proponent for the Site C generating station and spillways (GSS) civil works contract. The AFDE Partnership includes Aecon Constructors, a division of Aecon Construction Group Inc. (Aecon), Flatiron Constructors Canada Limited (Flatiron), Dragados Canada, Inc. (Dragados), and EBC Inc. (EBC).

The GSS civil works is the second largest single contract that will be issued for the construction of the Site C project. It includes the delivery of civil works associated with the powerhouse, penstocks, spillways and power intakes for the Site C dam.

A contract is expected to be awarded in early 2018 with mobilization to site anticipated in spring 2018. The proposal by AFDE Partnership is within the revised cost estimate established by BC Hydro of $10.7 billion (CAD) for the full project, and this contract value is included in the BC Hydro estimate.
