Walter Jordan Shares Industry Expertise at IECA Conference

540 Project Environmental Manager, Walter Jordan, was a panelist at this year’s International Erosion Control Association (IECA) Conference in Kansas City.

“We only have one planet, and it’s our responsibility to take care of it.”

For Walter Jordan, NC 540 Project Environmental Manager, environmental protection and sustainability are an integral part of his role at Flatiron.

His passion and expertise earned him an invitation to participate in the 2023 International Erosion Control Association (IECA) conference as a panelist.

During this four-day conference in Kansas City, Missouri, Walter had the opportunity to share expertise on two different panels – focusing on erosion, sediment control and mass grating.

“It was such an honor to have been selected to speak at the conference,” says Jordan. “To be able to share my knowledge with others was awesome. I also got some valuable insight that can be applied on our jobsites, specifically in regard to unconventional applications of *polyacrylamide (PAM).”

“One of the most insightful panels I sat in on discussed approaches to protecting our projects. Climate is changing, but the things we do to protect the climate aren’t changing with it. The measures we took to protect the environment 25-30 years ago are pretty much still the measures we take today,” says Jordan. “It’s our job to develop modern solutions that best suit the environmental state. We only have one planet, and it’s our responsibility to take care of it.”

*PAM is a highly water-absorbent polymer used to aid in erosion control and decrease soil sealing.
