In the Community, Life at Flatiron, Sustainability

Flatiron Partners with Feeding America in Southern California

It’s not enough to live where we build and build where we live. We want to create better communities through volunteering.

At Flatiron, we are creating a culture where people have a strong sense of belonging – to the company and to their community.

More than a dozen Flatiron employees from our Chino and San Diego, California, offices volunteered with Feeding America by sorting produce for the local community. Fresh citrus went to families, and not-so-fresh items went to farms for livestock consumption.

This was Southern California teams’ first time partnering with Feeding America — chosen for its solid reputation and nationwide volunteering opportunities. Moreover, it was an opportunity to help combat food insecurity within our communities.

“This was my first time volunteering at a food bank,” said project accountant Patricia Grajeda, “It was a great experience to contribute to a great cause that benefits our community and I am certainly interested in participating again.”

As part of Flatiron’s Sustainability commitments, we encourage our employees to volunteer on projects that focus on the United Nation’s sustainable development goals of Quality Education and Sustainable Cities and Communities.
