Flatiron Selected as Lead Construction Contractor for Bay Area Dynamic Personal Micro Transit Project

The Dynamic Personal Micro Transit project will provide an alternative transportation option through zero-emission, autonomous Glydcars operating in dedicated guideways in East Contra Costa County in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Contra Costa Transportation Authority (CCTA) and Tri Delta Transit have selected East County Connection Partners (ECCP) to deliver Phase One of the Dynamic Personal Micro Transit (DPMT) project.

The ECCP comprises lead construction contractor Flatiron and transportation innovators Glydways and Plenary Americas. CCTA, Tri Delta Transit and ECCP will collaborate through a progressive public-private partnership (Progressive P3).

“The Progressive P3 delivery method will enable early and ongoing collaboration among all stakeholders — minimizing risk by fostering innovation and joint problem solving,” said Sarah Tacker, Flatiron Vice President for Northern California. “The result will be a high-quality, zero-emission, sustainable transit solution for people in the East Contra Costa County community.”

Working with multi-disciplinary partners and a broad range of stakeholders, Flatiron will design and construct dedicated elevated and at-grade paved guideways for the autonomous, on-demand, four-person Glydcars. This alternative transit solution is designed to increase access to transit throughout the county — reducing greenhouse gas emissions and fostering economic development in underserved communities by providing better access to broad transit networks such as Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) and to employment centers. Phase one construction is expected to begin in fall 2025, with completion in 2028.

This project strengthens Flatiron’s infrastructure construction portfolio in Northern California — adding to vital projects such as the U.S. 50 Multimodal Corridor Enhancement and Rehabilitation project and the Open Road Tolling Gantries & Toll Plaza Reconfiguration project. Flatiron is a leading contractor of projects delivered through public-private partnerships in California and across North America, such as the U.S. 101 Presidio Parkway project in San Francisco and the LAX Automated People Mover project in Los Angeles.
