Four Flatiron Projects Earn Spots in Roads & Bridges “Top 10 Roads” and “Top 10 Bridges” Rankings

At Flatiron, we take pride in building functional, beautiful and innovative infrastructure projects that improve the communities where we live and work.

Roads & Bridges named two Flatiron projects “Top 10 Roads” and two projects “Top 10 Bridges” in 2023 Top 10 Roads & Top 10 Bridges Awards.

Earning #4 Top Road of 2023 is Flatiron’s Route 210 Rehabilitation and Lane Replacement project in Los Angeles. This $150 million endeavor involved replacing 52-lane miles of pavement, 300,000+ cubic yards of roadway excavation and replacing approach slabs and concrete barrier at the 16 bridges.

Coming in as the #9 Top Road is Flatiron’s $421 million I-95 Express Lanes project in Northern Virginia — a joint-venture with Branch Civil. The new toll lanes — spanning a 10-mile portion of I-95 — delivers 66% more road capacity, new access points to Marine Corps Base Quantico and more reliable travel.

Flatiron’s captivating and unique Wellsburg Bridge earned the #2 Top Bridge of 2023 — spanning the Ohio River and connecting the communities of Wellsburg, West Virginia, and Brilliant, Ohio. This beautiful 1,875-foot-long, tied-arch bridge opened to the public in September 2023 with an incredible community celebration full of pride and honor.

Taking the #6 Top Bridge spot is Flatiron’s San Gabriel River Bridge Hinge and Diaphragm Repairs project. The project required two, 126-hour freeway closures, a first for Los Angeles County and the second ever for Caltrans. But the hard work paid off — the 250-meter-long structure reached completion 16 days ahead of schedule.
