Building State Highway 14 Bridge

Flatiron secured a contract for $10 million for the replacement of the State Highway (SH) 14 existing Mulberry Street bridge over the Cache La Poudre River in Fort Collins west of I-25. Work includes retaining walls, storm sewer, and reconstruction of access to the waste water treatment plant. This new bridge nearly doubles the width of the original bridge to provide an additional westbound travel lane, bicycle lanes, eight foot sidewalks, and a landscaped median.

The finished bridge incorporates urban beautification features that include decorative pedestrian railings, stone veneer monuments, structural stained concrete, raised planters, and custom etchings on bridge columns. A temporary detour was required for eastbound State Highway 14 traffic between Riverside and South Lemay Avenues to accommodate a multi-phased demolition and construction.
