Flatiron Environmental Manager Dr. Dee Patriquin Speaks at ACI Seminars on Sustainability

Flatiron’s Canada District Environmental Manager, Dr. Dee Patriquin, will be a guest speaker to present Flatiron’s Sustainability initiatives at the Alberta Chapter of American Concrete Institute (ACI)’s annual seminar in Calgary on April 12 and Edmonton on April 13.

Dee will be delivering a speech on “Building Sustainability and Driving Change – Flatiron and ESG”.

About the Presentation
Flatiron has a long history of developing and incorporating sustainable methods and best practices into its projects, admittedly driven by project efficiencies and reducing financial risks.

With the increasing global attention to ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) factors by major lenders, shareholders, Owners, and other stakeholders, ESG is now becoming a strategic corporate responsibility.

Beginning this year, Flatiron has now aligned our Sustainability goals with our parent company, HOCHTIEF. Sustainability will continue to guide how we approach and manage our business, further enhancing our leading role in relation to ESG globally.

In February 2022, we committed to initiatives within the HOCHTIEF Sustainability Plan 2025, with Sustainability Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) spanning training and awareness, biodiversity conservation and substantial life cycle reductions in emissions, waste, water use, and energy use, implementation of the Plan will extend across our operations. It will also help create new opportunities, increase efficiencies, mitigate risks, and strengthen stakeholder relationships, while also demonstrating overall accountability and leadership in the global transition to a low carbon and circular economy.

The presentation will outline key changes relevant to the materials supply chain for our Canadian operations, including concrete production and performance requirements.
